About Sayed Hussain Eshraq

Sayed Hussain Eshraq (born 1962 in Gardiz) is a prominent Afghan philosopher, researcher, and academic with more than three decades of experience in education, philosophy, and cultural studies. He completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown before entering Kabul Polytechnic University after successfully passing the national entrance examination. He later completed advanced studies in philosophy in Iran and received research certification from the Global Center for Islamic Sciences.

Dr. Eshraq has taught philosophy at Kabul University and the University of Education and Training in Kabul, where he founded the Chair of Hermeneutic Philosophy and developed and taught specialized academic curricula in this field.

In 2008, he established the Nebras Institute for Studies and Research and served as editor and director of its scientific-research quarterly journal. His scholarly works and articles are indexed in the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) and have been widely published and utilized in academic institutions in both Afghanistan and Iran.

His published works include Six Philosophical Essays, Dictionary of Philosophical Terms, Introduction to Contemporary Philosophy, Hermeneutics and the Endless Chain of Interpretation, Language, Discourse, and Pluralism, Key Concepts in Intercultural Philosophy, and On Social Philosophy. Several other works are currently in press, including Dialectic of the Self and the Other, From Enlightenment Paradigm to the Reconstruction of Otherness, Critical Approaches to Political Thought, Praise and Critique of Reason (two volumes), and Becoming in Dialogue. He has also conducted independent research on Abdul Hay Gardizi and the historical work Zayn al-Akhbar.

He has authored approximately 60 academic papers and has presented at numerous national and international conferences.
